Frequently Asked Questions

faq

Primary milia form when keratin becomes entrapped beneath the outer skin layer, creating tiny cysts at hair follicles or sweat glands. Secondary milia develop after something clogs ducts leading to the skin surface, such as injury, burn, or blistering.

No. Milia are completely benign keratin cysts that pose no health risk. They do not cause pain or discomfort. Treatment is not medically necessary but is performed for cosmetic reasons when visible on the face.

Treated milia will not return in the same location once removed. However, new milia can develop elsewhere as the underlying tendency for keratin entrapment persists. Preventive skincare helps reduce but does not eliminate recurrence.
